Emergency plumber in Fulham

Water always heads for the lowest point, and Fulham has plenty of basement and lower-ground conversions. When a sump pump fails down there, a whole floor floods instead of a ceiling dripping. Fulham High Street is where we are based.

Emergency plumber in Fulham

  • Basement and lower-ground conversions flooding when the sump pump fails
  • A shared soil stack backing up into whichever flat is lowest
  • Water finding its way down through a converted terrace into the flat underneath

Being based on Fulham High Street means we know the usual layout of a converted SW6 terrace well, and that shapes the first advice we give. If dirty water is coming up into a lower-ground bath or shower, the fix starts upstairs: every flat on that stack needs to stop flushing and running water until it is cleared, so knock on doors or message the neighbours straight away. If clean water is dripping through a ceiling, it is the upstairs neighbour’s stopcock that matters, not yours. For a basement taking water from outside or below, switch off power to that floor if water is near sockets. At night, the practical details are front area steps behind a gate, a shared front door with several bells, and permit parking on most residential streets. Tell us which bell is yours, and put a light on at the lower-ground entrance if that is the door we need.

Questions

Questions we often get

Do you work in Fulham?

We do. Fulham falls within Hammersmith and Fulham, covering the SW6, SW10, W6, W14 postcodes, and our engineers are out across Greater London from our Fulham office every day.

The pump has stopped and water is rising in my basement. What can I do straight away?

First make sure the pump is getting power, then check the float switch has not stuck. Those two cause most failures and each takes minutes to put right. If the level keeps climbing after that, leave it and ring us. Fulham High Street is where we are based.

Sewage is coming up in my lower-ground shower. Is it my drain or the building’s?

If you are the lowest flat on a shared stack, usually the building’s. A blockage further down makes waste from the flats above back up at the lowest outlet, which happens to be yours. Stop using your own water too, and ask the flats above to hold off. We clear the blockage first. Afterwards we can look at whether an anti-flood valve on your outlets would stop it happening again.

How much will it cost?

Before an engineer starts, you are given a price for the job. Should something hidden in a wall change what is needed, we stop and discuss it with you first, instead of pressing on and sending the bill later.
