Boiler installation in Acton

  • Years of piecemeal additions in older conversions, replaced by a proper installation
  • Communal-system blocks in North Acton, where installing a boiler does not apply
  • Homes where the boiler was relocated during an extension and never really suited its new spot

Acton’s older streets are full of converted flats and shared houses, where one boiler now serves far more people than the original household. That shifts the decision towards hot water capacity rather than heating output. Flats above shops on the High Street share entrances and back yards with the businesses below, so deliveries and the old boiler’s removal are timed around them. Many terraces had the kitchen extended and the boiler moved into the extension, sometimes with a flue that now sits under a neighbour’s window or a new rooflight. A new installation is the moment to put that right. In a shared house the landlord arranges the work, and the tenants should hear the date well ahead. Parking in W3 is largely permit-controlled near the town centre. The Gas Safe engineer notifies building control, so the paperwork is in order when you come to sell or remortgage.

Questions

Questions we often get

Do you work in Acton?

We do. Acton falls within Ealing, covering the W3, NW10, W4 postcodes, and our engineers are out across Greater London from our Fulham office every day.

Can a boiler be installed in my new-build flat in North Acton?

Not if the building runs a communal heat network, as the flat has no gas supply and no place for a boiler. Instead you have a heat interface unit, and we can service and repair it. In the older converted homes further south, a standard installation is simple.

Do we need a water softener with a new combi?

Not necessarily, but you do need scale protection. West London water is hard, and limescale builds up in a combi’s hot water side, cutting performance and shortening its life. Current guidance calls for scale protection on a new combi in a hard water area, usually an inline scale reducer fitted on the cold supply. A whole-house softener is optional and separate, and if you fit one, keep an unsoftened tap for drinking water.

How much will it cost?

Before an engineer starts, you are given a price for the job. Should something hidden in a wall change what is needed, we stop and discuss it with you first, instead of pressing on and sending the bill later.
