Emergency plumber in Battersea
- Heat interface units failing in Power Station and Nine Elms flats, which can pass for a boiler fault but are something else
- Faults on the communal heat network that leave several flats without hot water together
- Plant that an engineer can only reach once building management or the concierge lets them in
In a Nine Elms or riverside flat, the first thing to find is the utility cupboard. It usually holds the heat interface unit, the cold water valve for the flat and often the washing machine connections, so most leaks can be stopped there. Turn the cold valve off, and if the leak is coming from the heat unit itself, close the valves on the pipes into it if you can see them. Then tell the concierge, because water in a concrete-framed tower can reach the flats below quickly and the building may want to check them. For night visits, these developments usually need the engineer registered with the front desk, and underground car parks often have height limits a van cannot clear, so tell us where a trade vehicle can stop. The terraced streets off the park are the other half of Battersea: converted flats, shared stacks, and a stopcock that is often in the hall of the ground-floor flat.

Questions we often get
Do you work in Battersea?
We do. Battersea falls within Wandsworth, covering the SW11, SW8 postcodes, and our engineers are out across Greater London from our Fulham office every day.
Neither my neighbours nor I have hot water. Is the problem in my flat?
Very unlikely. In the riverside developments your hot water arrives from a communal network via a heat interface unit inside the flat, so when several homes lose it at once the network is the likely cause. Tell building management first. If your HIU turns out to be at fault, we can take that on.
Does the concierge in my building need to know before you come?
Almost always, in the newer developments. Most front desks keep a list of expected contractors, and some ask for proof of insurance or a works permit before anyone can go up, even at night. Tell them you have called an emergency plumber and give them our number. If the building needs paperwork, we can send it. For a flat in a terrace off the park, none of that applies; we just need to know which door.
How much will it cost?
Before an engineer starts, you are given a price for the job. Should something hidden in a wall change what is needed, we stop and discuss it with you first, instead of pressing on and sending the bill later.
