Battersea’s boiler work falls into three kinds of home. Off the park, the Victorian terraces and mansion blocks mostly have a combi per flat, fitted when the buildings were divided up or modernised, with flues out of back walls and condensate taken into shared stacks. Between them and the river there are post-war estate blocks, where flats may have individual boilers or be on shared plant, and tenants there should report a boiler fault to their landlord. The newer towers at Nine Elms rarely have a boiler at all. If your flat there is recent enough to still be under the developer’s or builder’s cover, report the fault to them before paying anyone, because a failed part may be theirs to put right. Can you work in my Nine Elms building, or does it have to be the developer’s contractor?
Usually we can, as long as building management agrees and we follow their contractor rules, which often include booking a slot, showing insurance and signing in at the desk. Some developments ask residents to use a nominated contractor for anything touching the heat network. For equipment inside your own flat, the choice is generally yours. Check your lease or resident guide, or ask the concierge, and we will fit around what they require.
